LIFE COACHING IS ABOUT HELPING YOU TO:
- Take a really good, honest look at where you’re currently at in life (Self-examination & assessment)
- Figure out exactly where you want to be down the road in the future (Vision development)
- Chart out a detailed map of how you’re going to get there (Goal setting: short & long term)
- Find the personal resources you need to make the journey (Empowerment & motivation)
The job of your Life Coach is to help you find a life path that fully leverages your passions, abilities and talents while honouring and accommodating your health challenges. Unleashing your full potential is your coach’s primary goal but building your confidence, raising your level of self-awareness and challenging you to grow your comfort zone along the way is all part of the journey. Ultimately, YOU determine where the coaching will take you because it’s YOUR life but your coach will be here to help you explore all options available to you.
The role of your Life Coach is to be a good listener, a sounding board, cheerleader, mentor, confidante, friend, motivator and energy source. Teaching you how to take self-care seriously and listen to your body will be high on our list of priorities until you’ve got a firm handle on giving yourself permission to pace your efforts effectively. You’ll receive coaching support throughout the evolution of your growth process one step at a time, being fully supported you every step of the journey. As a team, you’ll find creative ways to remove any roadblocks that come up along the way.

COACHING VS COUNSELING
Coaching and counseling are similar in that they both require a regularly scheduled investment of time and energy; but that’s where the similarity ends. Counseling (or therapy) generally focuses on the past and healing; whereas coaching focuses on the present, the future and your personal growth.
Oh, and one more thing… Counseling generally happens face-to-face, in person whereas coaching happens on the phone! This saves energy, time and money in travel and scheduling. You’ll find that, as others do, face-to-face interaction isn’t necessary for a positive coaching experience.

BENEFITS OF LIFE COACHING
Why would you want to hire a coach? What benefit would you experience as a result of working with a coach? Well, if you’re motivated to make the most of the opportunity and take the actions necessary to maximize your quality of life, here are just a few examples of the benefits that you might experience:
- A healthier, more accepting attitude towards the prospect of living life with a chronic illness or a disability, enabling you to make the absolute most of your life, in spite of your health condition.

- The confidence level necessary to share your health and personal needs with close family members.
- The knowledge and communication skills needed to educate those who need to know what to realistically expect from you, such as friends, family or an employer.

Before Coaching: . “Creatively, I have thrived when my life has been chaotic, but I would love to be able to write without having drama in my life. I have worked so hard in other areas of my life and have been successful, but no matter how hard I try I haven’t been able to succeed with this.” . After Coaching: “I’ve finally regained my passion for writing again and have overcome my fear of showing others my writing. Now I have my writing posted online for everyone to see. I am more convinced than ever that I need to pursue writing as a living. “Coaching has taught me that I need to push past the fear and move out of my comfort zone. This lesson carries through to all areas of my life. It was always a pleasure speaking with you, Trish; you made the whole coaching experience incredible!” Belinda W. lives with multiple heart conditions in Toronto, Ontario |

PERSONAL COACHING
Coaching happens over the phone so on your scheduled day and time you’ll call your coach by phone or using Skype. There’s also the option of doing a video call using Skype if you have a webcam. Each session will involve examinations of your successes, your challenges and your current opportunities. You’ll end every session by determining what you’re committed to do or complete between sessions and your coach will hold you accountable to those commitments.
GROUP COACHING
Also over the phone, Group Coaching is as it sounds, coaching delivered in a group setting. Benefits of the group format include but are not limited to:
- a sense of fellowship,
- opportunities to learn from the experience of others,
- the validation of being with others who completely understand your challenges,
- chance to brainstorm solutions in a group setting allowing synergy to be leveraged.
EMAIL COACHING
The process is the same as private coaching except that it happens by email. You’ll receive regular emails from your coach prompting you to send back an update on how things are going. You’ll be asked:
- about your successes,
- what you’re feeling good about,
- what you’re having trouble with,
- what your current opportunities are,
- what you’d like my support with, and
- what you’re committed to do that week in an effort to move forward.
You coach will reply with questions for clarification, discussion around challenges and feedback meant to validate and nurture your growth. The response will also help you fine-tune your commitments.
